Introducing Campona Airmaster™

Asthma

Campona Airmaster™ is indicated in the regular treatment of asthma where use of a combination product (long- acting β2 agonist and inhaled corticosteroid) is appropriate:

  • patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and 'as needed' inhaled short-acting β2 agonist or

  • patients already adequately controlled on both inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting β2 agonist

Note: Campona Airmaster™ 50 microgram /100 microgram strength is not appropriate in adults and children with severe asthma.

Campona Airmaster™ 50 microgram/500 microgram/ dose inhalation powder, pre-dispensed.123

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Campona Airmaster™ is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of patients with COPD, with a FEV1 < 60 % predicted normal (pre-bronchodilator) and a history of repeated exacerbations, who have significant symptoms despite regular bronchodilator therapy.

*Only the 50/500mcg Campona strength is indicated for the treatment of COPD.3

What is Campona Airmaster™ and what is it used for?

Campona Airmaster™ contains salmeterol and fluticasone propionate which have differing modes of action. The respective mechanisms of action of both active substances are discussed below:123

Salmeterol:

Salmeterol is a selective long-acting (12 hour) β2 adrenoceptor agonist with a long side chain which binds to the exo-site of the receptor.123

Salmeterol produces a longer duration of bronchodilation, lasting for at least 12 hours, than recommended doses of conventional short-acting β2 agonists.123

Fluticasone propionate:

Fluticasone propionate given by inhalation at recommended doses has a glucocorticoid anti-inflammatory action within the lungs, resulting in reduced symptoms and exacerbations of asthma, with less adverse effects than when corticosteroids are administered systemically.123

Product Indications

Campona Airmaster™ is indicated in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older.

Campona Inhaler Administration

Patient preference on inhaler administration are powder inhalers due to ease of use, as well as dose-counters to monitor doses.5

  1. To open your inhaler, hold the inhaler in one hand in a flat-level position. Depress the red button with the thumb and rotate the mouthpiece cover away from you with the thumb of your other hand as far as it will go until you will hear a “click”.6

  2. Hold the inhaler away from your mouth, breathe out as far as is comfortable. Do not breathe into your inhaler.6

  3. Put the mouthpiece to your lips.

Breathe in steadily and deeply through the inhaler, not through your nose.

Remove the inhaler from your mouth.

Hold your breath for about 10 seconds, or for as long as is comfortable.

Breathe out slowly.6

  1. Close the inhaler to maintain cleanliness, by rotating the mouthpiece cover back towards you as far as it will go. You will hear a “click”.6

  2. Afterwards, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out, and/or brush your teeth.6
